Picnic: Please send scholars with a cold lunch if you did not sign them up to receive a hot lunch this day, hot lunch will be unavailable to those who did not sign up. Please make sure your scholars come prepared with sunscreen and with a non-pop culture hat if needed.

Weekly Newsletter Quarter 4 Week 10 5/19-5/23

Spalding: This week in Spalding we are writing 30 words (all cursive) and studying phonograms! 

Grammar/Writing: This week in grammar/writing they are composing a procedural writing and thank you letters.

History: We will conclude history by looking at Civil Rights leaders.

Math: This week in Math we are introducing concepts that will be taught in the 3rd grade, next year. Including subtraction, fractions and fraction lengths.

LiteratureThis week we are continuing classic, The Cricket in Time Square.

We are continuing our new saying “I’m going to turn over a new Leaf.”

Weekly Newsletter Quarter 4 Week 9 5/12-5/16

Spalding: This week in Spalding we are writing 30 words (all cursive) and studying phonograms! 

Grammar/Writing: This week in Grammar/Writing, they will be presenting their Insect Museum Projects and writing a personal narrative. 

History: Scholars will finish their study of the Civil War and take their Quiz and then begin looking at civil rights leaders and how they impact the world we live in today.

Science: Scholars will present their Insect Projects.

Math: This week in Math we are introducing concepts that will be taught in the 3rd grade, next year. Including comparing numbers in the thousand and problems involving addition within 1000 using strategies based on place value.

LiteratureThis week we are continuing classic, The Cricket in Time Square.


We are continuing our new saying “I’m going to turn over a new Leaf.”

Grammar/Writing: This week in grammar we are reviewing parts of speech and in writing they will continue to write paragraphs.

History: Will complete our study of the civil war and have our Quiz on Friday, May 9th.

Science: In prep for our Insect Projects, we will take a deeper dive into insects.

MathThis week in Math we are continuing money concepts. We will review on Thursday and test on Friday.

Weekly Newsletter Quarter 4 Week 7 4/28- 5/2

Spalding: This week in Spalding we are writing 20 words (all cursive) and studying phonograms! 

Grammar/Writing: This week in grammar we are learning about fact and opinion and in writing they will continue to compose paragraphs.

History: We are going to be diving deeper into the Civil War. Scholars should be able to identify who won the war and why.

ScienceWe will continue to look at plants and habits of plants. Scholars should continue working on their Insect Projects. They will be due Tuesday, May 13th.

MathThis week in Math we are revisiting money with coin recognition, and counting coins

LiteratureThis week we are Beginning our next classic, Crickets in Time Square.

Spalding: This week in Spalding we are writing 30 words (all cursive) and studying phonograms! 

Grammar/Writing: This week in grammar we are learning about context clues and in writing they will continue to write paragraphs.  

History: We will continue to study the civil war and the impact it had on America.

ScienceWe will continue to look at plants and habits of plants. Scholars will also be bringing home their Science Insect Project Packet. Projects will be due Tuesday, May 13th.

MathThis week we are finishing our Financial Literacy chapter and testing Friday.

History: We will be learning about the Civil War and the role Harriet Beecher Stowe and Harriet Tubman played in it.

ScienceWe will take a closer look at living organisms and their habitats. 

MathThis week the scholars beginning our chapter on financial literacy. We are beginning on learning the meaning of saving, spending and lending money.
