Weekly Newsletter Quarter 2 Week 9 12/16 - 12/20

 Spalding: This week in Spalding scholars are working on 18 words and studying phonograms.

Grammar/Writing: In Grammar and Writing scholars will learn how to cite both a book and an informational website in order to prepare for their Historical Figure project. . 

History: Scholars should be working on their Historical Figure projects. They are due Monday, January 13th. 

Science: Scholars will continue looking at properties of matter.

Math: This week scholars will be reviewing time using another resource called Envision, before taking their Time test on Thursday 12/19.

Literature: Scholars will continue reading "Little House, Big Woods".

They will also be reciting their poem, "Windy Nights" by Robert Louis Stevenson on Wednesday 12/18 and Thursday 12/19. 

Scholars will continue to practice the saying, "Can't teach an old dog new tricks".

Reminders and Updates

We are reciting our poem "Windy Nights" from 12/18-12/19. Please continue to practice at home.

Historical Figure projects are due Monday, January 13th. Please note, everyone is expected to present on this day. There will be no makeup presentations without a doctors note. 

If your scholar is Upper school carline pick up in the afternoon, please make sure they have a book to read in the MPR.

Weekly Newsletter Quarter 2 Week 8 12/9 - 12/13

Spalding: This week in Spalding scholars are working on 29 words and studying phonograms.

Grammar/Writing: In Writing scholars will take assessments on narration, copy work, and dictation. 

History: Scholars will finish their study of Ancient Greece and there will be a quiz on Friday, December 13th.

Science: Scholars will sort different types of matter based on their properties.

Math: This week scholars will be focusing on counting time. This includes how many minutes to the hour and past the hour, how to use a.m. and p.m., and the meaning of midnight and noon.

Literature: Scholars will begin continue reading "Little House, Big Woods".

They will also be continuing to learn their poem, "Windy Nights" by Robert Louis Stevenson. 

Scholars will continue to practice the saying, "Can't teach an old dog new tricks".

Weekly Newsletter Quarter 2 Week 7 12/2 - 12/6

 Spalding: This week in Spalding scholars are working on 29 words and studying phonograms.

Grammar/Writing: In Writing scholars are continuing to practice writing dictated sentences accurately, and in Grammar, they are reviewing and identifying all 8 parts of speech.

History: Scholars will finish their study of Ancient Greece in preparation for their unit assessment next week.

Science: Scholars will be continuing their study of matter by learning to identify the different types of matter.

Math: This week scholars will test their knowledge on Bar Models with a test on Wednesday, 12/4.

Literature: Scholars will begin reading our next classic, "Little House, Big Woods".

They will also be learning their new poem, "Windy Nights" by Robert Louis Stevenson. 

Scholars are now practicing the saying, "Can't teach an old dog new tricks".
