Weekly Newsletter Quarter 4 Week 3 3/31- 4/4

Spalding: This week in Spalding we are writing 30 words (all cursive) and studying phonograms! 

Grammar/WritingThis week in grammar we are learning about suffixes and in writing we are working on conventions.

HistoryWe will continue to follow settlers moving West.

ScienceWe will continue looking at cycles that happen on earth. This week we will focus on ants and other insects.

MathThis week the scholars are continuing to learn about fractions with equal parts and whole parts. 

LiteratureThis week we are continuing our classic, Charlotte's Web.

Poetry/ Saying: This week we are continuing our poem, "The Hayloft" by Robert Louis Stevenson. We are planning to recite April 9th/10th.  Please have your scholar practice at home!

We are continuing our saying: "Practice what you preach."

Weekly Newsletter Quarter 4 Week 2 3/24-3/28

 Spalding: This week in Spalding we are writing 30 words (all cursive) and studying phonograms! 

Grammar/WritingThis week in grammar we are learning about quotation marks and in writing we are writing a paragraph independently.

History: We will continue how early Americans traveled and settled west. 

Science: We will continue learning about the different cycles of the earth. This week we will focus on what makes the seasons and the life cycle of a plant.

MathThis week the scholars are continuing to learn about shapes, reviewing shapes on Tuesday and testing on Wednesday. We will then introduce our next chapter about fractions.

LiteratureThis week we are continuing our classic, Charlotte's Web.

Poetry/ Saying: This week we are continuing our poem, "The Hayloft" by Robert Louis Stevenson. We are planning to recite April 9th/10th.  Please have your scholar practice at home!

Weekly Newsletter Quarter 4 Week 1 3/17-3/21

 Spalding: This week in Spalding we are writing 29 words (all cursive) and studying phonograms! 

Grammar/WritingThis week in grammar we are learning about quotation marks and in writing we are writing a paragraph independently.

History: We will be continuing our journey west, as we learn about the American settlers travel west. 

Science: We will begin looking at different cycles in nature. The first cycle we will look at is day and night, and seasons. 

Math: This week scholars are continuing to learn more about shapes with more emphasis on 3-D shapes. We will be utilizing both our Singapore and Envision books for extra practice.

Literature: This week we are beginning our next classic, Charlotte's Web.

Poetry/ Saying:  This week we are introducing "The Hayloft" by Robert Louis Stevenson. We are planning to recite April 9th/10th.  Please have your scholar practice at home!

Weekly Newsletter Quarter 3 Week 8 03/03-03/07

 Spalding: This week in Spalding we are writing 10 words (9 cursive) and studying phonograms! 

Grammar/Writing: This week in grammar, they are learning about possessive nouns. In Writing, they will write a paragraph about spring break and their field trip. 

History: We will be continuing our study on how the Americans moved west.  

Science: We will continue to study the human body and how it works.  

Math: This week scholars are beginning our next chapter with Shapes. We will open with learning 2-D and 3-D shapes and complete a fun pizza shape activity before our Field Trip Thursday and Spring Break. 

Literature: This week in Literature we are continuing our classic, The Borrowers, by Mary Norton. 

Poetry/ Saying:  This week in Poetry we are practicing and reciting our poem, "Harriet Tubman," by Eloise Greenfield. We are planning to recite March 4th/5th.  Please have your scholar practice at home!

We are continuing our saying, "In hot water."
