Weekly Newsletter Quarter 2 Week 3 10/28 - 11/1

 Spalding: This week in Spalding scholars are working on 30 words and studying phonograms.

Grammar/Writing: In Writing scholars are continuing to practice writing dictated sentences accurately, and in Grammar, they are learning about prepositions.

History: Scholars will conclude their study of the Culture of Japan, and there will be a quiz on Friday 11/1.

Science: Scholars will continue looking at the Geography in the Americas. This week they will look at Central America and the West Indies.

Math: This week scholars will be learning how to subtract with renaming in Chapter 3 of their Singapore math books.

Literature: Scholars are finishing the classic, The Courage of Sarah Noble by Alice Dagliesh.

This week we are also introducing Greek Gods and Greek Myths.

We are also continuing to practice our saying, "Easier Said Than Done".

Reminders and Updates

We are reciting "Something Told the Wild Geese" 11/19 - 11/21. Please continue to practice at home.

If possible, please remember to send your scholar with a snack for Lyceum and a plastic water bottle for throughout the day.

If your scholar is Upper school carline pick up in the afternoon, please make sure they have book to read in the MPR.

Weekly Newsletter Quarter 2 Week 2 10/21 - 10/25

 Spalding: This week in Spalding scholars are working on 28 words and studying phonograms.

Grammar/Writing: In Writing scholars are continuing to practice copy work and dictation, and in Grammar, they are learning about adverbs.

History: Scholars will be starting the study of the Culture of Japan. We will look at where Japan is located on the map and the islands that make up the country.

Science: Scholars will begin looking at the Geography in the Americas. They will look at the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Math: This week scholars will be learning how to subtract without renaming in Chapter 3 of their Singapore math books.

Literature: Scholars are continuing to read The Courage of Sarah Noble by Alice Dagliesh.

This week we are also introducing a new poem titled "Something Told the Wild Geese", and reciting in class on November 19th.

We are also practicing a new saying, which is "Easier Said Than Done".

Weekly Newsletter Quarter 1 Week 9 10/7 - 10/11

 Spalding: This week in Spalding we are working on 19 words and studying phonograms.

Grammar/Writing: In Writing they will continue narration for summary and creating a sentence to copy. In Grammar they will be learning about adjectives as a part of speech this week.

History: Scholars will be focusing on getting ready for their science quiz on Thursday and start exploring the Culture of Japan when we return from Fall break.

Science: Scholars will complete their study of land and water and the effects it has on our world. They will have a quiz on Thursday October 10th.

Math: This week scholars will be learning how to subtract fluently within 20s.

Literature: In literature this week we are continuing our classic to keep "The Courage of Sarah Noble," and have a quiz on Chapters 1-4 on Tuesday October 8th.

We are reviewing our poem "The Secret" and reciting in class on October 9th-11th

We are still practicing the saying "Don't Judge a book by its cover"
